CLINICAL FEATURES

Flat warts are not flat, but slightly raised flat-topped smooth papules. They are usually a light tan to brown color. They are often grouped and seen on the face and distal extremities in children. The Koebner phenomenon may be seen with lesions occurring in areas of skin trauma. They may be especially widespread on the lower legs of adolescent females who shave their legs.

TREATMENT

Since lesions are frequently so numerous, destructive therapies are usually unsuccessful. Immunologic therapies including topical retinoic acid gels to irritate the lesions, imiquimod and Candida antigen injection are most often used.
