CLINICAL FEATURES
Nevus of Ota is a flat blue-black, speckled pigmentation involving one eye that often involves blue pigment in the white sclera.
In the related nevus of Ito similar blue-black speckled pigmentation is seen around one shoulder and adjacent chest. Most of nevus of Ota and nevus of Ito are present at birth, but some are acquired in childhood.
As in Mongolian spots there are spindle-shaped cells containing pigment in the mid to deep dermis.
TREATMENT
Q-switched laser treatments are beneficial in improving the appearance.
