Hemiplegia

This refers to unilateral paralysis of the arm/leg. The first six patterns correspond to different types of Wind-stroke.

Numbness/tingling

‘Numbness’ includes numbness itself or a tingling sensation, or both together. Numbness is more common in Phlegm and Wind, whereas tingling is more common in deficiency patterns such as Liver-Blood deficiency. However, this is only a broad rule.

Numbness of half the body

Numbness of half the body usually occurs in the limbs.
