24 Peritoneum

The peritoneum appears as a discrete, thin, smooth, single echogenic line deep to the abdominal wall.1 Like pleura, peritoneum can produce a type of reverberation artifact known as comet-tail artifact.2 Motion of the peritoneum and abdominal cavity contents (“gut sliding”) can sometimes be appreciated.
